Added the AXTC-LN29 alongside my dash kit and harness on the 2012 Chevrolet Tahoe specifically to retain steering-wheel controls, and it does exactly that. Setup matched the application guide's wiring diagram without surprises. Worth the extra part if you don't want to lose factory buttons.

Fits my 2012 Chevrolet Tahoe as listed in the application guide. Retains the functions it says it will. Only note: double-check the nav vs. non-nav split before ordering — Metra lists two different part numbers for this exact truck.
